- AAUW Branch President Elected to State Office
Dr. Nancy Bolsen, Director Emeritus at K-State, was selected as the president-elect of the Kansas American Association of University Women (AAUW) at the 2013 State Annual Meeting in Salina on April 13. Her two-year term will begin July 1. Nancy is currently the president of the Manhattan Branch of AAUW and has provided leadership in expanding branch membership and relevant monthly programs, promoting AAUW scholarships, and strengthening the partnership with K-State. The branch was honored as a Kansas Star Branch for its achievements at the annual meeting. Previously, Nancy held the position of Director of Adult Services at K-State and was affiliated with the Center for Child Development and College of Human Ecology.
AAUW is one of the largest and most influential women’s organizations in the world with over 150,000 members and 1,000 branches with 14 branches located at major cities throughout Kansas. Since its inception in 1881, AAUW has worked towards expanding the educational, professional, and leadership opportunities for women and girls through its many programs, grants, scholarship, advocacy groups, and research. It provides more than $4.3 million annually in fellowships and grants (www.aauw.org). Membership in AAUW is open to anyone holding an associate or equivalent (RN), baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
